RECYCLE HEAR is a public-service campaign to recycle all bottles and cans consumed at San Francisco's largest and most popular music venues. More specifically, the campaign creates a recycling infrastructure at each participating establishment to make it convenient both for the proprietors and their patrons to recycle all beverage containers.
Why a campaign to promote recycling at music venues? There are two reasons: Recycling at large clubs, bars and restaurants historically has been less than satisfactory. Yet the huge volume of bottles and cans emptied at these locations make the potential benefits too great to ignore. Plus music venues just sounded like a good place to start. After all, it's not too big a stretch to connect two such inherently rewarding experiences: enjoying great music and saving the environment. It is a natural fit: Hear music, recycle here...RECYCLE HEAR.
Need more convincing? Consider the results: As many as one-and-a-quarter million more bottles and cans collected each year. And that's only at the participating venues. The RECYCLE HEAR campaign plan also encourages the more than one-and-three-quarter million people annually who enjoy music at these establishments to adopt the recycling habit where you live, work and play.
It is just that simple: Recycle your bottles and cans all the time - at San Francisco's music venues as well as everywhere else.
